Apollo Graphic Services Ltd. – A brief history

1980 - Phil Halling started his business as a self employed sign writer doing local vans, builders and estate agents boards, shop fronts etc.

This business was operated from a building in a builder's yard in Broadway, Worcestershire.

By 1990 he had secured most of the local transport industries' work, but found that there was an increasing popularity of pre-spaced vinyl lettering & logos (commonly referred to as “graphics”). At that time there were several sign companies surrounding the Evesham/Broadway area, all within a 15 mile radius, that could offer this type of service.

After a great deal of thought, Phil decided to expand into supplying graphics

After successfully converting most of his existing customers over from paint to vinyl, the business grew over the next few years. Firstly taking new premises at Bond Industrial Estate near Evesham, and then moving to Weston Industrial estate near Honeybourne.

In April 1997, Phil decided to start a new venture specialising in the application (fitting) of graphics, predominantly for some of the major sign companies in the country, under the name of “ Apollo Graphic Services “

Apollo gained recognition from some major manufacturers for the quality of applications

Including being put on the prestigious 3M list of applicators, along with becoming Avery Dennison approved applicators and grew over the next few years employing more staff. Along the way Apollo gained work for several prestigious customers, such as the RAC, ANC, TNT, Rentokil Initial to name a few.

In the late 1990's Apollo got involved in vehicle wrapping which was in its infancy at that stage. The skill and competence of Apollo's team has put them at the top of this genre of signage – being asked to do “wraps” all over the country and even giving exhibitions, training and demonstrations for some of the vinyl manufacturers and distributors.

In 2004 Apollo Graphic Services Ltd. started trading. The company then invested in large format printing equipment and started producing graphics from new offices back on Bond Industrial Estate. Business & the credible customer base continued to grow.

The current situation is that Apollo has now moved to a much larger industrial unit to combine production and application under one roof. Aware of the implications on working hours directives currently being discussed, the plan is to encourage more customers to come to Apollo's impressive & accommodating premises, rather than having to travel to the work, although an element of the work will always be done at customers premises.

With its eye on future developments within the industry, the company has also invested heavily again in new state-of-the-art equipment to compliment its existing machinery and its growing workforce.

Apollo Graphic Services now not only produces & fits liveries and wraps for many prestigious customers but has the in-house capabilities to print onto a vast range of substrates up to a staggering 3.2 metres tall with virtually limitless length, ideal for printing building wraps, banners of any size, truck curtains and even wallpaper!

Apollo Graphic Services Ltd. has grown & adapted through many years of change. Although a very different company from the one in 1980, it has retained the core element of one man's passion & vision.
